Psalms 139: 14 (NKJV)
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.”
For the longest time, I warred against myself. I warred against my feelings. I warred against how God wired me. I would be someone who admired the people around me – complementing and encouraging them to continue shining bright in how God made them. While doing that, in my heart I would be praying away the very thing the Lord had placed in me for His glory, because I didn’t see its beauty.
From childhood, I’ve always been a sensitive person; I feel deeply and care about how I make others feel. People’s emotions can easily attach to me and the spirit of empathy would follow me. I remember as a child I would cry easily, I remember my heart hurting really badly when something didn’t feel right. I saw this trait as a curse rather than as a blessing. I spent years trying to numb my emotions, controlling my tears, and for a while, I kinda got the hang of it. I started to feel like I’m now walking in strength, and in power, I can’t be seen as weak anymore. These were the lies the enemy would feed my subconscious mind.
Recently I was reflecting on the body of Christ, particularly my church. I was thinking about the different people and their individual quirks and what made each person so different from the other. It was just a beautiful thing to behold. Each person carries something uniquely different to carry out the will of God, which cannot be replicated. Each individual carries something so beautiful, and what makes it even more beautiful (when you think about it) is just for them to carry.
Psalms 139: 14 -16 (NKJV)
14
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
Previously when I would think about Psalms 139, and being fearfully and wonderfully made I would always attribute that to the physical. Not really focusing on verse 16 which states that – His eyes saw my substance yet unformed. So beyond our physical bodies, the substance of our very being was created by God. All for His glory, without there being a need for human validation.
Let’s not make the enemy make us feel less than because we are not like everyone else. We weren’t created to be like everyone else. Let’s not make the enemy make us feel like the substance of our very being is a curse, whereas it was intended to be a blessing to others. Let’s not make the enemy distort our way of thinking about ourselves and others. Let’s not allow the enemy to manipulate and use what God has placed in us for DARKNESS.
Use how God has created you for His glory. That’s when the true beauty of who you are can be displayed, that’s how it can now be appreciated.
God has revealed to me why He created me to be this big ball of emotions. He has been encouraging me to harness those emotions for His glory. He has made it known to me that my emotions have kingdom purpose when directed in the right way and He has given me insight as to how to guard my emotions to prevent manipulation from the enemy.
Who He has created you to be – Has Kingdom Purpose.
The very substance of your being is needed to advance the Kingdom of God here on earth.
Don’t let the enemy plant seeds of insecurity in your heart, his very goal is to prevent you from pursuing your God-given Kingdom Purpose.
The very substance of who I am makes me Passionate. The very substance of who I am makes me empathetic and loving. The very substance of who I am makes me encouraging.
A big ball of emotions surrendered to the Lord, and I was created this way to advance the Kingdom of God.
You were created the way you are to advance the Kingdom of God – Embrace the very substance of how you were created, because you are needed.
