Genesis 16:13 (NKJV)
13 Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are- the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”
I was in prayer earlier, petitioning heaven for the will of God to prevail in my life. Onto Him I looked, heart crying out, eyes closed, and tears running down my face. My heart had language, my mind tried its best to put into words, but didn’t fully capture the language of my heart, but I knew He understood.
I felt seen.
Ever so often, we go through life with tunnel vision, eyes set like flint on the desires of our own hearts, not seeking His desires for us. Disruption and chaos come, and we ask – “Where is God?”
We wonder if He sees us. With doubt and frustration arising in the midst of it all, sometimes we even question the very presence of God in our lives.
What does it really mean to be seen by Him?
Does being seen mean having a life devoid of disruption?
Does being seen mean having everything go our way?
No, it doesn’t!!!
What I’ve been learning is that the Lord sees every single part of me. Like He truly sees me. My emotions and feelings, He sees them all. The very cry of my heart, He sees and acknowledges. My physical hurt matters to Him. Yahweh is my Abba and the prototype of a father. As a Dad He desires for me to be my best self in Him. Therefore, even in seeing me, He chooses to act in my best interest. Likewise with you, He sees you and chooses to act in your best interest as the good Father that He is.
What does that look like?
That simply means that the job opportunity that was denied, that you are losing sleep over – Abba sees you, the state of your heart matters to Him concerning that job, but He won’t allow how you’re feeling to prevent Him from acting in your best interest. Although He sees the state of your heart right now, as an omnipresent God, He also sees you 10 years down the line, losing your sense of self to that same job. He sees, He knows, He chooses you.
He sees. He knows. He chooses you.
There is a certain confidence I walk around with, knowing that the Creator of the universe is my Abba – I know that I am always seen, not just in the present tense, but also in the future tense. Because of that, I know that both my trials and my prosperity serve great purpose.
Rest assured that you are seen and loved by your ever-present, all-knowing ABBA.
